Media expose: Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US) Siasun Robot & Automation production is far below target, promising to produce 5000 units before the end of the year, but currently only a few hundred units have been produced.
Tesla's humanoid robot project, Optimus, is currently facing serious production bottlenecks, with the current output only in the hundreds, far below Musk's target of 5,000 units per year.
Tesla's Optimus project by Siasun Robot & Automation is facing serious production bottlenecks, with production far below the annual target of 5000 units set by Musk.
According to reports, the company is currently facing major technical challenges in robotic arm technology, leading to a large number of completed Siasun Robot & Automation units idle in the factory due to a lack of hand and forearm components.
During a financial report conference call on Wednesday, Musk also hinted at production bottlenecks with the Optimus project. When asked about the project's contribution to Tesla's revenue in the next two to three years, he was cautious, expressing some confidence in predicting the situation five years later but finding it difficult to predict the next one or two years.
This production issue is crucial for Tesla as the company urgently needs new growth points. Tesla's second-quarter report showed a 12% year-on-year decline in overall revenue, and Musk warned that the company may face "several difficult quarters" as US electric vehicle subsidies end and global market competition intensifies.
The main obstacle facing the Optimus project is in the design of the robotic hands by Siasun Robot & Automation. Development of hardware and software comparable to human hands is a common challenge for Tesla and its competitors.
Despite Musk's high hopes for the Optimus project, including predictions of surpassing Tesla's electric vehicle business and substantially increasing the company's valuation, it has not been enough to alleviate investor concerns over the company's declining car sales. Tesla's stock price has already fallen by 24% this year.
