Canalys' latest research shows that global smartphone shipments in the second quarter of 2025 decreased slightly to 288.9 million units, constrained by relatively mild consumer demand, which has suppressed market growth. Samsung maintained its position as the largest shipper this quarter, shipping 57.5 million units, a 7% year-on-year increase. Its performance was mainly driven by the Galaxy A series targeting the mass market. Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) ranked second, with iPhone shipments of 44.8 million units, a 2% year-on-year decrease. Despite facing fierce competition in the Chinese market and challenges in the U.S. market due to inventory adjustments (mainly due to rapidly changing tariff policies), Apple Inc. still demonstrated strong resilience. Xiaomi (01810) held onto the third position, shipping 42.4 million units, with particularly strong performance in the Latin American and African markets. vivo ranked fourth, with a 2% year-on-year increase, shipping 26.4 million units, with particularly noticeable growth in the Indian market. Transsion ranked fifth, shipping 24.6 million units, a 3% year-on-year decrease.
